Hannah Walker
Recently I have had the pleasure of making a vibrant tropical themed dress for Hannah Walker. This was her feedback.
"Fashion and embroidery designer, Vikki Lafford created a bespoke design for me. The brief was to create a dramatic embroidery on the skirt of a brightly coloured dress which had a dramatic split on the leg. Vikki exceeded my expectations.
I have ordered from designers before, some quite high profile and had outfits custom made, but always based on existing designs. Vikki came up with something which was truely unique to me. Out of all the gorgeous garments I own, this dress is my favourite. The dramatic embroidery design of a bird captures my love of colour, vibrance and fun, whilst the dress shape is enormously flattering and the colour suits my complexion perfectly.
I was enormously impressed with the skill, quality and standard of the dress. I can't fault the dress and it is something that I will treasure, always."
Joanna Foster CBE
I was commissioned by Joanna Foster, Chair of the Crafts Council, to design and make a textile jewellery piece for her ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ themed birthday celebration in May 2009. The commissioned piece was an entwined wire and wool necklace decorated with beads and detachable embroidered dragonflies. The Dragonflies were mounted onto brooch pins for versatility and could be removed from the necklace and attached to other items of clothing and furnishings as individual or grouped brooches.
“My birthday was magical. Everyone adored my necklace and I have in fact been wearing the dragonflies pinned onto other things since then.” Joanna
Dr Jelena Wochnik
Jelena married in Chelsea Town Hall in Spring 2009 and wanted a simple and classic dress to suit her city wedding. The dress was made from beautiful pale gold silk and was an adapted version of the Dementer dress shown in the gallery section.
“All the girls loved the dress as did my husband Alex, who preferred it infinitely to anything white and from the shops!” Jelena
